Things To Remember When Buying A New House

Buying a new house is one of the most significant investments you’ll make in your lifetime. And that is why you want to get it right and you got exactly what you wanted.

Here is Anthony Wardan, an home consultant and Director at Maple Living provides the most important things to consider while buying a new house.

Location

The most important reason most buyers look out for when buying a house is its proximity to their place of work, market, school, recreational center, place of worship and families and friends. They also look for houses that are closer to the main road or have less traffic.

Buying this kind of house can save you from spending a lot of time in traffic and reduce stress. Location is very important because it will determine your quality of life for years to come. When checking out properties in the area of your choice, it is important to consider the neighborhood carefully. Introduce yourself to them and observe the streets carefully so as to ensure that it’s exactly to your taste.

Make use of professionals

According to the National Association of Realtors, 50 percent of buyers find their homes online and 27 percent through real estate agents.

Therefore, make use of the internet and good agents available because, with them, you will be able to choose from different options available and  secure the kind of house you are looking for.

Price

First thing to do before even looking for your dream home is to determine your price range and get pre-approved for a loan if needed.

You want a house that will meet your needs and at the same time not put a strain on your Budget.  That is why you need to know how much you are willing to shell out and stick to your price range. Besides, don’t waste time searching for property you can’t afford and go for the one within or slightly below your price range so that you can have enough funds leftover for possible renovations, furnishing and other improvements.

Timing

Timing is important when you are buying a new house. You need to figure out how much time you need to complete the process and whether or not you are on time restriction.

Intentional delay leads to an increase in the value of the house you intend to buy. You need to ensure that by the time you leave your old house, the new one will be ready.

Viewing

One of the things to look forward to and enjoy while buying a new house is viewing. You can go to open houses to view properties that are for sale or go with your agents to view different houses that are within your price range. You have to narrow it down to properties that suit your taste and fit your requirements.

You can also arrange for a private viewing at a time that is suitable for you. They want more people to see the property so they will always be happy to show you a little later or meet you at your own convenience.

Size

When buying a new home, the size of the home is one thing you don’t want to take for granted. You don’t want your family cramped up in a small apartment nor do you want a house that is too big you find it hard to maintain. Moreover, the size can impact your utility bills, furniture expenses, operation cost and many more. Hence, before making a choice, Anthony Wardan suggests you should ask yourself:

Will the number of family members in the house increase or decrease?

Do I need enough room to host family members and friends when they come visiting or would it be better if they stay in the hotel?

How much time and money am I willing to devote to ensuring home cleanliness?

Do I spend a lot of time preparing meals or not and what size of the kitchen will do?

How big should the living room be considering the number of occupants in the house?

Know your non-negotiable out of this question and what you are willing to compromise on.

Closing takes time

When you finally find the house you are looking for(house that tick most of your list). You need to understand that the process of closing on a house can take several weeks as the case may be. One of the key steps is to arrange for the home inspection.

“A professional home inspector will ensure that everything is in good shape or alert you if there is any issue in the house, ” Anthony Wardan concludes.
