7 Changes in Appearance Which You Shouldn’t Ignore

Your appearance may change due to puberty, aging or even a different climate in another country. But sometimes changes in appearance may be caused by certain conditions and diseases. Therefore, you should be attentive to your body and any changes which you can feel or see. In this article, you can read about the changes in appearance which can indicate some health problems.

1. Dry and chapped lips

Dry and chapped lips can indicate an allergy. In this case, you should examine the composition of cosmetics and oral hygiene products that you use. You should also pay attention to the foods you eat. Seizures and cracks at the corners of the mouth can be caused by a deficiency of vitamins B, A and E. If your eyes and oral cavity are dry and you suffer from digestive problems, you should visit the doctor since this combination of symptoms is typical for the autoimmune disease called Sjogren’s syndrome.

2. Eyebrow Loss

Thick eyebrows are not only a trend but also a good indicator of your health status. A periodic slight eyebrow loss is normal. But if you notice rapid eyebrow loss, bald patches, and even their almost complete loss, this can be caused by thyroid problems.

3. Nail Dystrophy

Any change in nail color and texture is a sign of health problems. Thin and pale nails can be a sign of anemia and lack of iron in the body. Yellowish nails indicate liver and digestive problems or fungal infections. White spots and stripes on the nails can be caused by a lack of zinc, copper, and iodine. Nail fragility may occur due to a lack of vitamins, calcium, iron, and beta-carotene.

4. Red Face

If your face turned red due to physical activity, temperature changes, alcohol consumption or massage, that’s natural. But if your face is always red, this may be caused by three reasons:

  • In women over 40, red facial skin can occur due to a decrease in hormone levels and premenopause
  • A red face also indicates infections which cause demodicosis
  • Partial redness of the face coupled with dizziness can be caused by blood pressure spikes

5. White spots on teeth

White spots on your teeth are the result of fluorosis. Fluorosis is a chronic disease that may occur in children before teething and in adults due to the consumption of a large amount of water or products with a high content of fluorine compounds. There is mild, moderate, and severe fluorosis. In the case of severe fluorosis, tooth tissue is crushed which leads to tooth loss. Therefore, if you notice white spots on your teeth, you should hurry to visit the family dentist!

6. Dry Skin

In the cold season, some people experience dry skin and this is natural. In this case, you can get rid of it with the help of hand cream and vitamins. But if your skin is always dry and creams and vitamins don’t help you, then you need to go to the dermatologist. Dry skin can even be a sign of diabetes and hypothyroidism.

7. Foot deformity

Changes in foot shape and impaired function of the foot may be signs of flat feet. According to statistics, transverse flatfoot in combination with other deformations is more common than longitudinal. Women suffer from it more often than men. The reason is that walking on heels leads to uneven load distribution and pain which indicates the onset of foot deformity.
