Kim Soo-hyun Addresses Allegations Regarding Relationship with Kim Sae-ron​

South Korean actor Kim Soo-hyun held a press conference on March 31, 2025, to address allegations concerning his past relationship with the late actress Kim Sae-ron. Visibly emotional, Kim Soo-hyun admitted to dating Kim Sae-ron but firmly denied claims that their relationship began when she was a minor. He stated that they dated for about a year, starting five years ago, which would place the relationship around 2020, after she had reached adulthood. ​

Kim Soo-hyun said he felt bad about denying the connection at first. He said that, being the main performer in the drama “Queen of Tears,” he had to maintain a specific public image. Telling everyone about the link at that time scared him as it would compromise the production business, staff, and actors of the program. he said, “I think I always choose in favor of the celebrity.”

This meant that he put his public image ahead of his true self. In response to claims made by Kim Sae-ron‘s family that he dated her when she was a teenager and that their relationship led to her sad death in February 2025, Kim Soo-Hyun rejected these claims.

He said, “I did not date the deceased when she was a minor.” Furthermore, the dead person did not make a bad choice; I just saw it not approaching. Kim Soo-Hyun also said he would follow anybody who spread false information about him before the courts. This involves compiling criminal complaints and libel legal actions.
