Can the Use of Technology Help Improve Students’ School Performance?

Technology has come a long way in recent years, and technological advances are being widely used in classroom settings to help students improve their learning. From getting assignment help to helping students stay focused on their studies, technology has a way to improve every aspect of a student’s educational requirement.

Here are 10 ways in which technology can help students in improving their performance and making them successful in the future.

1. Improving writing with Artificial Intelligence (AI)

A good writing style is an important skill to have for any student, as their academic expression determines their grades. Even though students are taught writing skills in classrooms, the instruction may not be enough for everyone. By using certain AI-based software, students can detect mistakes in their work and learn to write more effectively. They can use this software at any time of the day, so it also gives them flexibility in getting help with their assignment writing.

2. Using AI chatbots to get answers

Students often have several questions related to their courses or their assignments but cannot find the responses on time by their teachers. Many schools and universities now have AI-based chatbots, which are available 24/7 to answer any questions a student may have. This ensures the students get the help they need on time and reduces the stress related to schoolwork, which also improves their performance.

3. E-books and Audiobooks

Students now have options of going through their books in more than one way. Traditional hard copies are making way for E-books and audiobooks, which may be more engaging for students. E-books provide the opportunity for interactive tasks and quizzes, while audiobooks make learning fun by providing information differently. Students with different learning styles can take advantage of these different modes of reading.

4. Gamification techniques give engaging ways of learning

The use of video games to deliver teaching lessons is a new method that many schools are implementing. Students find this new method of learning more engaging than traditional methods. By playing games they can more easily understand difficult concepts and accomplish tasks. By combining learning and play through technology, students can learn more effectively. This increases their performance.

5. Augmented Reality technology to simulate learning experiences

Augmented Reality technology has come a long way in simulating real-life experiences (American University, 2020). This has been applied in the classroom in many ways to improve students’ learning. AR enables an easy way of learning by doing in which students can virtually go to many different locations and gain experience of the real world. They can also be taught to do different tasks virtually to improve their skills and academic performance.

6. Staying focused

Technological apps on the devices of students can help them stay focused on their tasks. These apps provide them with engaging ways to make to-do lists, set study goals for themselves, and see their progress in achieving these goals. These apps can also help students reduce distractions from their environment so that they can stay focused on their studies.

7. Improve communication with peers and teachers

Technology helps increase communication. Students can communicate with their peers in engaging ways using their devices, help each other and improve their learning performance. They can also work together on gamification tasks, which greatly increases the fun they experience and thereby improves their academic performance. They can also use technology to collaborate with their teachers and ask questions if they need help.

8. The visual organization of ideas

Technology helps students organize their ideas visually in the form of maps or diagrams by using different software. Tablets and pens make it easy to draw them by hand and edit them for an unlimited amount of time. This is an engaging way of helping them make connections between different ideas and helps them understand various tricky concepts. This is especially helpful for students who have a learning style based on visuals.

9. Field trips can be conducted using technology

Field trips have always been an exciting way for students to learn about different places and gain new experiences, and with the use of technology such field trips can be brought right to the classroom. Students can use VR technology to be taken to different places and learn about concepts related to their studies. For example, in geophagy lessons, VR can be used to conduct a field trip of different geological locations which the students can learn about through experience. This vastly improves students’ performance.

10. Get students ready for a digital future

Learning through technology helps students get be ready for the future (Walden University, n.d.). This benefit is more than just helping them achieve academic success. It ensures students have the capabilities required to succeed in a technological future.

Technology has many uses for students and can help improve the ability of students to learn new concepts. It can also increase their learning experiences and make studying more engaging.
