HOW‌ ‌YOUR‌ ‌EATING‌ ‌HABITS‌ ‌AFFECT‌ ‌YOUR‌ ‌SKIN‌

The skin is the largest organ so it must be adequately taken care of. The metabolism of everyone is unique and people go from having great skin one moment and having not-so-great skin the next moment.  Collagen is a protein in your skin that is important for its development. It helps to keep your skin young and plump.  As we age, our collagen level naturally reduces and this will leave the skin with lines, wrinkles, and diverse colors of pigmentation. Pre-rolled hemp has moisturizing qualities and nourishing vitamins that are good for the skin. It can also reduce inflammation, control oil production, and reduce the risk of infections.

Factors that contribute to healthy skin include:

Vitamin A:

This helps to regulate the skin so that oils do not get trapped. Vitamin A plays a major role in healthy skin and cellular renewal. It helps to remove dead cells and encourages the reconstruction of collagen in the body. Vitamin A can be found in leafy greens, lettuce, carrots, potatoes, cantaloupe, fish, tropical fruits, liver, winter squashes, and sweet potatoes.

Vitamin C:

This helps in producing collagen in the body. It is an antioxidant that aids in cellular renewal. Foods rich in vitamin C include oranges, grapefruit, kale, red pepper, broccoli, strawberries, and guava.

Vitamin E:

Vitamin E helps to protect your skin from sun damage. It helps the skin to remain firm, retain moisture, and look young. Foods with vitamin E include whole grains, nuts, spinach, seafood, and avocado. Note that vitamin E can heal wounds faster and prevent the formation of scars.

Vitamin D:

Vitamin D is important for the skin. It helps in renewing healthy cells and the production of collagen. You can increase your vitamin D by getting exposed to the sun for 10 minutes daily. You can also eat tuna, salmon, mackerel, cod, egg yolks, cheese, and beef liver.

Selenium:

This mineral has antioxidant properties that can protect the skin from free radical damage.

Zinc:

There is evidence that shows that people who have acne have low levels of zinc in their bodies. Zinc appears to prevent acne by creating an inhospitable environment. It can also calm irritated skin. Zinc can be found in almonds, wheat germ, and Brazil nuts.

Omega-3 fatty acids:

This inhibits the molecules that can lead to inflammation. They reduce the probability of acne. Omega-3 fatty acids can be found in salmon, sardines, walnuts, flaxseed oil, and almonds.

Water: Drinking water is essential if you want to have good skin as it hydrates the body. Water flushes out toxins that damage the skin, aids in skin metabolism, and helps in regeneration.

You must understand how your eating habit affects your skin. A healthy diet may lead to healthy skin and prevent skin cancers such as melanoma or carcinoma.

The benefits of a healthy diet are:

  • It affects moisture levels: Drinking water is great for your skin and all other organs in your body. It helps to recover the moisture that has been lost through sweating or other processes.
  • It affects wrinkles: Eating certain foods can positively impact your health. Foods with omega-3 fatty acids and healthy oils will help collagen production and make your skin smoother. Some foods prevent premature skin sagging and wrinkles.
  • Prevents melanoma: Melanoma is a skin cancer that can be prevented when you eat healthily. Foods like leafy greens and fish can prevent melanoma
  • It affects blemishes: High-fat foods and sugary foods and drinks can contribute to blemishes so you have to avoid them.

The condition of your skin is influenced by factors such as diet and lifestyle. Our skin can get thinner and less elastic as we age but not that eating healthily can help out. A healthy diet will go a long way in boosting the appearance of your skin, improving elasticity, and protecting your skin from UV damage.

The best foods for a healthy skin are green leafy vegetables, carrots, tomatoes, berries, beans, salmon, mackerel, peas, apricots, and lentils. If you have skin issues then adding fruits to your diet will give your skin a natural glow. Fruits give nutrients and antioxidants to your body and they also reduce inflammation and the chances of infections occurring. Fruits like oranges, mango, watermelon, apple, banana, grapes, strawberries, and papaya will make your skin healthy and vibrant.

Skincare tips include:

  • Eat healthily: A healthy diet can help your skin to look better
  • Don’t smoke: Smoking affects your skin negatively as it makes it to look older. It also contributes to wrinkles so you are to avoid it.
  • Sleep well: You should get enough sleep as lack of sleep will cause the stress hormone known as cortisol to be released in your body. This will cause inflammation as uncontrolled stress triggers breakouts and it makes your skin to be more sensitive.
  • Wash your face gently: You should gently wash your face to remove dirt, bacteria, smog, makeup, smoke, or dirt. Gently wash your face regularly.

What you eat matters in your quest for clear and glowing skin. There are a lot of things you should or should not eat if you want to have healthy skin.  Everything is connected and this means that what you eat affects your skin.
