The Warning Signs of Root Canal Infection

Most people assume that there’s no way to know whether or not you have a root canal infection until your symptoms become unbearable, but in reality, you can actually identify it several days or even weeks before the problem becomes so severe that it’s noticeable. Here are some warning signs of root canal infection to watch out for when dealing with tooth pain, if any of these apply to you, make an appointment with your dentist immediately so they can properly treat the infection as soon as possible.

What are the warning signs of root canal infection?

There are a number of warning signs you can look for if you think your tooth is infected. Some might be more obvious than others, but by knowing what to look for and identifying when these symptoms arise, you can get treatment sooner rather than later. Common warning signs include: red or white swelling around a tooth; shooting pain in one side of your face; difficulty chewing; sharp pain in one tooth as soon as you wake up. If you experience any of these symptoms, it’s time to visit your dentist immediately and discuss root canal treatment options so that an infection doesn’t spread.

You should never wait until morning to schedule an appointment—the longer you wait, the greater risk there is of your oral health worsening. It’s better to have a quick appointment now than reschedule until next week and then have worse problems down the road. Waiting also gives infections time to develop into something larger—so don’t put off seeking care!

As always here at Capital Smiles we strive for nothing less than excellence and that means giving back whenever possible. In honor of Valentine’s Day our practice will be making donations back into our community beginning with those who need it most: our patients!

Do you have any warning signs?

If you’re experiencing pain or sensitivity in a tooth, it could be cause for concern. Many people think that tooth pain is normal and that it will pass within a few days, but pain can actually be a sign of serious dental issues. If you suspect that you may have an infection in your teeth or gums (gum disease), contact our team at Union Dental Care to schedule an appointment with one of our dentists as soon as possible! Although we try to spot these warning signs early on, some patients come into our office months after experiencing an issue. Call us today if you are experiencing any discomfort so we can help alleviate your symptoms and prevent further complications down the road.

Our dentist will perform a thorough examination to determine which type of treatment is best for you, from medication to root canal therapy or fillings. The earlier treatment begins, the more likely we are able to resolve your condition quickly and keep it from spreading throughout your mouth.

What if you don’t have a dentist?

It’s easy to brush off your teeth until it’s too late, but if you’re experiencing any signs of root canal infection, then you shouldn’t wait to see a dentist. Here are some signs that you may have already developed an infection and need treatment: discomfort and sensitivity in your tooth, swelling or tenderness in or around your face or mouth, fever or chills and fatigue. If left untreated, a tooth can become painful, swell and even begin to abscess. An infected tooth is never fun to deal with, so make sure you see a dentist as soon as possible if you’re noticing anything out of the ordinary!

Get to your dentist right away!

If you’re experiencing any pain in your tooth, you might be tempted to delay treatment until it’s unbearable. If that pain is a sign of root canal infection, though, you may find yourself suffering for far longer than necessary if you don’t get to your dentist right away. Signs of root canal infection include mild aches and pains, swollen gums, sensitivity to temperature changes and/or sharp pains when eating or drinking. If you begin experiencing any symptoms like these while trying to save money on dental care costs or putting off another appointment with your dentist, call your dentist immediately—you may have developed an infection that can only be effectively treated with a root canal. Don’t wait until severe damage has been done!

Signs of wisdom tooth infection

Wisdom teeth, or third molars, are usually removed when they’re still inside a person’s mouth. Unlike other teeth, wisdom teeth can cause a number of problems if they are not removed at just the right time. When any tooth is impacted (born sideways or in an incorrect position), bacteria can seep into it and cause an infection in surrounding tissue. In some cases, infections can even travel through your body to your heart.

During early stages of wisdom tooth removal or while undergoing endodontic treatment, people may experience mild symptoms such as:

With time, a person’s symptoms could become more severe and include pain that lasts long after treatment has ended. The following signs should be enough for you to call up your dentist so that he can make sure nothing more serious has happened: This will help ensure that you don’t neglect any steps toward treating what could become a dangerous condition .

If you are experiencing persistent jaw discomfort or swelling, please seek immediate medical attention before root canal infection gets worse. You could even develop deadly sepsis (blood poisoning) due to bacteria entering your bloodstream if infection is left untreated . Also, other physical problems such as osteomyelitis (bone infection) may occur if not treated immediately , which is why immediate dental care is essential in these situations.
