French Guerschon Yabusele is a powerful forward working for the Philadelphia 76ers team who is pretty versatile due to his strength and agility as well as his experience in international tournaments. This article talks about his career and how he is as a player.
Guershon Yabusele was born on December 17, 1995, in Dreux, France. Yabusele launched his career in the basketball French leagues and effectively showcased both his athleticism on the court and his overall dedication.
In the beginning of his career, he was associated with Rouen Métrople Basket, subsequently playing for Chorale Roanne Basket, becoming renowned as an all-round shooter and strong pest defender. After his time at these leagues, interest from foreign scouts began to gather, paving the way for him to pursue his dreams in the NBA.
In the 2016 NBA Draft, Guerschon Yabusele went as the 16th pick in overall order as a Boston Celtics player. After working extremely hard throughout his career, he was presented by a group that saw potential in him but was nowhere near getting any regular minutes on the court in the near future.
To begin with, he played in a season with the Shanghai Sharks in the Chinese Basketball Association, where he was able to increase his offensive arsenal and advance his game. The experience that Yabusele gained in China was very useful for him because he was able to receive constant exposure on the basketball court, improve his game and get ready for the mental aspect connected with the NBA.
After coming back to the Celtics in 2017, Yabusele had to spend two seasons with the team, hardly gathering any playing time. Though part of the team and making appearances, Yabusele had below-average statistics of 2.3 points and 1.4 rebounds due to the positional competition he was playing. Even though he did not play extensively, Yabusele established himself as a crowd favorite due to his charming nature and aggressive playing style.
Following his departure from the Celtics, Yabusele set out for Europe and Atletico Madrid in the EuroLeague, a team he joined mid-year. This move turned out to be crucial for Yabusele since he was included in the rotation of Real Madrid and increased his scoring and defensive ability.
In 2023, the Philadelphia 76ers secured Yabusele’s contract and his experience gained from years of playing in Europe. Yabusele made a seamless return to the NBA and his capabilities were on display again as the 76ers employed him as a power forward able to stretch the court, guard several spots and be a spark off the bench.
He is currently recording 8.4 points per game along with 3.9 rebounds and a 46.7% field goal percentage, which are decent numbers that make him useful in the lineup of 76ers.
Guerschon Yabusele is not just known for his physical attributes but also his speed and overall versatility, playing in a stretch-four role comfortably. With this combination, he is quick enough to be a defender for both forwards and centers.
Another of his well-known skills is rebounding, especially on the offensive side of the court, where he is known to provide second chances to his team.
His background and history in the EuroLeague provided him with a great training ground to succeed in such different basketball environments. He has a great long-range shot on three pointers, making 37.9% from the perimeter, and holds his own as a frontcourt defender.

Now that the 76ers are gradually extending their reliance on Yabusele, he has carved a role as a dependable bench to go to when the team needs energy and versatility.
